What should I expect from the Pilates class?

Pilates is a low impact exercise which educates your body and mind. Pilates teaches correct posture, increases your body awareness and encompasses body-conditioning exercises, which lengthen and strengthen the muscles, without stressing the joints or the heart. Pilates gives you a leaner, suppler, more toned body and a calmer, more relaxed mind.

The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning develops the body uniformly, corrects posture, restores vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit.’ Joseph H. Pilates

There are lots of reasons to join a Pilates class, from those who want a stronger back or flatter stomach to those with specific injuries or medical problems that Pilates can help; or else, simply those who want to get fit or de-stress and take some time out in the week for themselves. Many medical practitioners, osteopaths and physiotherapists will recommend it as a safe method of exercise.

Pilates therefore is great for everyone, young and not so young! Whether you want to add Pilates to your exercise repertoire to compliment your other activities, or you’ve never really done any exercise and you want to make a start. Try Pilates!

‘In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body.’ Joseph H. Pilates
